On this North Kildonan retrofit we masked the existing wood beams first so the finished millwork stayed clean, then filled the open stud bays with closed-cell spray foam. Sealing those cavities before drywall goes back up cuts drafts through an older Winnipeg home and gives the wall a tight envelope for Manitoba winters.
