    Attic Spray Foam in Winnipeg

Attic and roof-deck spray foam for Winnipeg homes where heat rises and escapes, with rafters sealed against Prairie winters.

Attic Spray Foam. Green Home Insulation

In Winnipeg, a lot of winter heat leaves through the attic. We spray closed-cell foam along rafters and roof decks so warm indoor air is not leaking into a cold attic space.

Sealed roof assemblies also help control moisture and can reduce ice damming caused by uneven roof temperatures. Ask us whether a vented attic or a sealed roof deck is the right approach for your home.

    Where attic heat actually escapes

Heat does not only leave through low R-value. It leaves through air movement. Warm indoor air rises into the attic through recessed lights, bathroom fans, plumbing stacks and unsealed top plates. Once that moist air hits cold roof sheathing you can get frost, staining and ice dams along the eaves.

Closed-cell spray foam expands into rafter bays and sticks to the roof deck, creating insulation and an air seal in one layer. That is why we spray along rafters and roof decks rather than only adding loose insulation on the attic floor.

Vented attic or sealed roof deck

Not every attic should be treated the same way.

    Sealed roof deck

Some homes get a sealed roof deck, where closed-cell foam is sprayed directly to the underside of the sheathing and the attic becomes part of the conditioned space.

    Vented attic

Others keep a vented attic with air sealing at the ceiling plane.

We recommend the approach that fits your roof and code path, and we explain why before quoting. Tell us about your roof type, any existing ventilation and whether you have cathedral or vaulted sections.

    Ice dams and moisture

Ice dams form when heat escaping through the roof melts snow unevenly and the water refreezes at the cold eaves. Sealing and insulating the roof deck keeps roof surface temperatures more even, which is one of the practical ways to reduce ice dam risk in Winnipeg winters.

Sealed roof assemblies also help control moisture, because warm indoor air is no longer condensing on cold sheathing.

    Cathedral and vaulted ceilings

Cathedral and vaulted ceilings leave very little depth for insulation. Closed-cell foam works well in those rafter bays because it delivers both R-value and an air seal in the limited space available.
